Chameleons are reptiles that are part of the iguana suborder. These colourful lizards are known as one of the few animals that can change skin colour. However, it is a misconception that chameleons change colours to match their surroundings. In fact, a chameleon’s skin changes colours in response to its emotions, such as anger or fear as well as changes in light, temperature or humidity.
